The highest peak in Hokkaido is also super-class fun.
Spring, summer, autumn, and winter - all the seasons are treasures to behold.
Asahidake, the highest mountain in Hokkaido. Every year, many mountaineering enthusiasts visit the highest peaks of the 2,000 meter-class mountains that make up the Daisetsuzan Volcanic Group. One unique feature is the “Daisetsuzan Asahidake Ropeway”, which runs from Higashigawa-cho to Sugatami Lake (1600 meters above sea level) and provides visitors with easy access to the mountain. From being the first place in Japan where the brilliant, changing colors of autumn leaves appear, to snow activities from winter through spring, there are attractions for every season. You can never get bored no matter how many times you visit.
Mt.KURODAKE
Daisetsuzan National Park KURODAKE
Take in the scenery, hike the trails, climb the mountains.
where you can enjoy the mountains to your heart's content.
Kurodake is a mountain that is recommended for beginners and families, as ropeways and pair lifts are in operation throughout the year, and by using them, it is possible to reach the 7th station. Due to its high latitude, the ability to see alpine flora that is otherwise only found on mountain peaks in Honshu that are over 3,000 meters in height is one of the big attractions of Kurodake. The overwhelming scale of the scenery viewed from the top of the mountain is something you'll remember for the rest of your life. And a winter adventure of hiking through the forest in snowshoes is something you should not miss.
