Goto Sumio Museum of Art
Experience the profound emotion of Sumio Goto's masterpieces, reaching the very heart and beauty of Japan
This museum showcases the breathtaking works of Sumio Goto, one of the most prominent painters in the Japanese art world. His vibrant masterpieces are beautifully crafted using natural mineral pigments, including pure gold and lapis lazuli.
The museum houses approximately 130 grand works. Highlights include paintings of China—such as the spectacular 14-meter-wide piece "Unkai Kozan Usei" (Clearing Up After Rain over Mount Huangshan)—as well as magnificent depictions of Europe, the historic Yamato-ji region in Japan, and the stunning landscapes of Hokkaido.
At the museum shop, visitors can purchase a variety of exclusive goods, including art books, exhibition catalogs, postcards, shikishi (traditional Japanese art boards), and ippitsusen (mini letter pads).
On the second floor, you will find the restaurant "Furano Grill." Here, you can savor exquisite dishes made with carefully selected local ingredients while enjoying panoramic views of the Tokachidake mountain range and the surrounding rolling hills.
