Roller Coaster Road

One of the "Kamifurano Eight Views," featuring a straight road with dramatic dips and climbs

While driving along National Route 237, look for the sign reading "Nishi-11-sen Nōmen Nōdō" (West 11th Line Agricultural Road) and make a turn. From there, a spectacular 2.5-kilometer straight road with dramatic, rollercoaster-like elevation changes stretches out before you.

As you drive along this route, beautiful rural landscapes and rolling hills unfold. As the road climbs higher, breathtaking views of the Tokachi mountain range come into sight. This incredibly scenic spot was even featured in the 2005 TV drama Yasashii Jikan (A Gentle Time).

Proudly selected by locals as one of the "Eight Scenic Views of Kamifurano," this area offers more than just a scenic drive. Visitors can also explore the landscape on foot via 11 designated footpath courses, or take on the "Furano Long Ride"—a popular cycling route that runs all the way from Biei to Furano.
