Lake Chubetsu
A mirror reflecting magnificent nature
Located at the gateway to Daisetsuzan National Park, Lake Chubetsu is a man‑made reservoir created by the Chubetsu Dam. The lake’s greatest attraction is the majestic reflection of Mt. Asahidake on its surface. On calm, windless days the water becomes a perfect mirror, producing a breathtaking scene as the mountain is reflected with stunning clarity.
Around the lake you’ll find observation platforms and a waterside plaza, allowing visitors to enjoy beautiful seasonal scenery. From fresh green in spring to canoeing and stand‑up paddleboarding (SUP) in summer and vivid autumn foliage, the lake reveals a new face with every visit.
