Daisetsu Asahidake Gensui Park
A renowned spring spot bringing you the pure bounty of Mt. Daisetsu, officially designated as one of Japan's Top 100 Waters
Located almost in the center of Hokkaido, at the foot of Daisetsuzan National Park, Higashikawa is widely known as a rare municipality—the only town in Hokkaido without a municipal waterworks system.
This is because the snowmelt from the vast Daisetsuzan mountains slowly seeps deep into the earth over many years, naturally flowing underground to supply the entire town.
The "Daisetsu Asahidake Gensui" is renowned as a premium spring water created by this pristine nature. It is rich in minerals and maintains a constant temperature of about 6 to 7 degrees Celsius all year round. This clear, abundantly gushing water deeply enriches the daily lives of Higashikawa's residents.
At the water collection point (Gensui-iwa), which draws directly from the source, anyone is free to collect this exquisite spring water. From spring through autumn, we also highly recommend taking a walk along the wooden boardwalk from the collection point to visit the actual source of the spring.
