Asahiyama Park

Asahiyama Park is a spacious, nature‑rich hilltop park on the southern slope of Asahiyama — a 295‑meter peak at the northwestern end of the Kitoushi range, about 10 km east of central Asahikawa. Along the park’s pathways you’ll find cherry blossoms in spring, fresh green foliage in early summer, vivid autumn colors, and snowy winter landscapes — a place to enjoy the town’s seasonal palette. Each spring the park hosts the Asahiyama Park Night Cherry Blossom Festival, where illuminated cherry trees create a magical spectacle against the night sky. From the high viewing area you can take in sweeping views of Asahikawa and the Ishikari Plain, and at dusk the city lights make it a popular spot for night views.

The park offers lawns, benches and gazebos, making it ideal for relaxed walks, picnics and jogging. Its convenient access also makes it easy to visit together with the zoo. Note that slopes and walkways can become slippery depending on the season and surface conditions, so please wear sturdy, comfortable shoes.
