White Birch Street
A row of birch trees that has been selected as one of the “100 Best Natural Areas in Hokkaido”. It continues for about 4 km along Road No. 966 (Tokachidake Onsen Biei Line) heading towards Shirokane Onsen from the front of the roadside station “Shirokane Birke”. Birch, also known as a “pioneer plant,” grew wild on land devastated by the eruption of Mt. Tokachi during the Taisho era. When the weather is nice, Mt. Biei in front of you and the white birches that stand out are beautifully balanced.
