A single poplar standing on the gentle hills of Biei is known as "Ken and Mary Tree." It became a filming location for automobile commercials in the 1970s and has since been widely known by that name. The expanse of fields, the winding farm roads, and the tree’s slender silhouette rising against the distant mountain ranges create a picturesque scene that changes with the seasons and time of day. From fresh green in early summer to the golden hues of harvest and the snowy panoramas of winter, every season is photogenic.

Please respect the surrounding farmland: do not enter private property, and enjoy and photograph the tree quietly from the road or designated viewing points. It also makes a great stop on a hill‑scenic driving route that includes nearby "Mild Seven Hill".
