Biei Shrine

Biei Shrine is believed to bring blessings for love and matchmaking. It is one of Biei’s three major power spots, and alongside Shirogane Blue Pond and Shirahige Falls—ranks among the town’s most popular attractions. The shrine’s main hall hides numerous heart‑shaped motifs, and finding them is said to bring good luck in romance. As a result, the shrine draws many visitors who come to pray for love, making it an ideal place to wish for a relationship.

A local specialty is the “Hill Mamori” charm. Featuring an intricate landscape design inspired by Biei’s rolling hills, it is both beautiful and meaningful — a lovely souvenir and a thoughtful gift for friends or relatives.

Each year on July 25 the shrine holds the dramatic Nachi‑Biei Fire Festival (Nachi‑Biei Himatsuri) in conjunction with the Yoimiya Festival.
