Mt. Asahidake, the main peak of the Daisetsuzan range, is home to many valuable species — including the ginsan‑mashiko (Pine Grosbeak) and the Ezo chipmunk — and is popular with both climbers and photography enthusiasts.

Asahidake Visitor Center opened in June 2019 as an information hub for Daisetsuzan National Park, offering details on guided tours and ways to enjoy the surrounding nature. By providing up‑to‑date information and tour guidance, the center supports visitors who come to hike and take part in outdoor activities, including assistance focused on visitor safety, so they can better understand and experience Daisetsuzan’s natural environment.

The Daisetsuzan Asahidake Ropeway is just a one‑minute walk from the center, and several hot‑spring facilities are located nearby, making it easy to relax in an onsen after a climb or walk.
