Daisetsuzan Asahidake Ropeway
The main peak of Daisetsuzan Mountain, which is famous as the highest peak in Hokkaido
It comfortably connects the foot of Mt. Asahidake (2,291 meters above sea level), the highest peak in Hokkaido, to the 1,600 meters above sea level “Seeing Pond”. As you take the ropeway, which takes about 10 minutes each way, you’ll see a magnificent panorama of Daisetsuzan National Park below, offering breathtaking views of the four seasons. In particular, the “earliest autumn leaves in Japan” from mid to late September are a sight to behold, and the sight of the vast mountain surface dyed red and yellow is exceptional. There is a promenade around the station, and you can easily visit the traces of volcanic activity and the mirror-like beautiful pond. In addition, we are waiting for you to enjoy gourmet food that can only be tasted on the ropeway, such as handmade croquettes made with local Higashikawa potatoes and Asahikawa Sasa pork, and organic coffee brewed with Asahidake source water.
