Daisetsuzan Asahidake Ropeway
The main peak of Mt. Daisetsuzan, renowned as the highest peak in Hokkaido
The ropeway offers a comfortable ride connecting the foot of Asahidake (elevation 2,291m), the highest peak in Hokkaido, to the scenic Sugatami Pond at an elevation of 1,600 meters. During the 10-minute one-way trip, you can enjoy a magnificent panorama of Daisetsuzan National Park spreading out below, offering breathtaking seasonal scenery. In particular, the "earliest autumn foliage in Japan," visible from mid to late September, is truly spectacular. The sight of the vast mountain slopes dyed in vibrant reds and yellows is exceptional. With well-maintained walking trails around Sugatami Station, you can easily explore the traces of volcanic activity and the beautiful, mirror-like Sugatami Pond. Furthermore, we look forward to welcoming you with exclusive culinary delights available only here, such as handmade croquettes made with local Higashikawa potatoes and Asahikawa Sasabuta pork, as well as organic coffee brewed with the natural spring water of Asahidake.
