Located in Daisetsuzan National Park, this spectacular scenic spot sits at an altitude of 1,500 meters at the Akadake Trailhead. It is known nationwide as the destination for "Japan's earliest autumn colors." By mid-September, alpine flora paints the mountain slopes in brilliant reds and yellows.

If you are coming by car, about 130 minutes from JR Asahikawa Station, about 120 minutes from Asahikawa Airport, about 40 minutes from Sounkyo Onsen,
if you are coming by local bus, take the Hokkaido Bus "Sounkyo/Kamikawa Line" and get off at the "Sounkyo" bus stop.
From there, you can take a taxi or go to the shuttle bus stop during the fall foliage season.
