Northwest Hills Observation Park
A panoramic view of Biei with its many layers of ripples. An observation park with beautiful evening views and seasonal colors
Northwest Hills Observation Park is a classic view spot overlooking the hills of Biei. You can see the gentle fields, scattered forests, and the Daisetsuzan Mountains in the distance, and the expression changes completely with each season, such as the fresh greenery of early summer, the lavender and wheat colors of midsummer, the mosaics of the harvest season, and the snowfields of winter. From the observation deck in the park, you can enjoy a particularly wide-angle view, and the time of day when the sun sets over the hills is exceptional. There are also walking paths, lawns, shops, and snack corners (open seasonally), making it ideal for taking breaks and taking photos during the drive. If you combine it with the surrounding “patchwork road” and each Ipongi spot, you can efficiently enjoy a hill tour that is typical of Biei.
