Arashiyama Observatory

Just a quick 20-minute drive from downtown Asahikawa, the Arashiyama Observatory sits atop Arashiyama Forest Park, offering sweeping, panoramic views. Look down to trace the winding flow of the mighty Ishikari River, take in the vast Asahikawa cityscape, and gaze out at the majestic Daisetsuzan mountain range on the horizon.

A beautifully maintained trail leads from the parking lot to the viewing deck, offering a refreshing and easy hike. The scenery transforms dramatically throughout the year—from delicate spring greenery and deep summer shades to brilliant autumn foliage and pristine winter snowscapes—providing endless inspiration for photographers and nature walkers alike.

As twilight falls, the city lights begin to gently illuminate the landscape, bathing the river and the streets in a soft, romantic glow. We also highly recommend exploring the surrounding woodland trails for a rejuvenating "forest bathing" experience, accompanied by the soothing songs of wild birds.
