Sounkyo Onsen Icefall Festival - 北海道まんなか観光ナビ

One of the best winter events in Hokkaido, the Sounkyo Onsen Icefall Festival. The 10,000-square-meter venue, which uses the riverbed of the Ishikari River, is lined with about 30 ice sculptures of various sizes, as well as an ice room about 13 meters high, an observation deck, a tube slide, and an ice waterfall shrine. The ice sculpture, which took about three months to create by taking advantage of the nature of the deep canyon at the foot of the Daisetsuzan Mountains, is lit up with seven colors of light at night, creating a fantastic space. During the period, various events will be held on the stage, and fireworks will beautifully color the frigid night sky.
