The Four Seasons of Daisetsuzan, Captured by a Photographer — Find a Truly Moving Photograph
The exhibition centers on the works of mountain photographer Kouetsu Ichinei, who devoted his career to capturing the nature of the Daisetsuzan mountains. On display are striking images of majestic peaks and delicate alpine flowers, offering an up‑close view of the mountains’ changing expressions through the four seasons and inviting visitors to rediscover both the grandeur and the subtle beauty of the natural world. Around 200 photographs are exhibited, mainly large‑scale prints over 1.5 m wide. Ichinei’s powerful mountain images, shot with a large‑format 4×5‑inch camera, convey the full charm of Daisetsuzan’s seasonal variations and continue to mesmerize viewers. Visiting is especially recommended even if the ropeway is not operating.
