Daisetsuzan Asahidake Sugatami-pond
Mount Asahidake, the highest peak in Hokkaido — hiking trails for flowers in spring and autumn foliage.
Starting from Sugatami Station on the Daisetsuzan Asahidake Ropeway, this hiking route is about 1.7 km long and typically takes around 1 hour 30 minutes to complete. The trail offers wide, panoramic views and beautiful scenery, with opportunities to admire alpine plants and the majestic landscape of Mt. Asahidake. Because the route is suitable for beginners, it draws many visitors each year. Alpine flowers begin to bloom from around June, and the trail changes with the seasons — spectacular autumn foliage and winter snowshoe walks make it an attractive destination year‑round.
