The Sounkyo is a huge comprises a range of gorge created by the Ishikari River carving out the Daisetsuzan, surrounded by about 20 km by 100-meter-high cliffs with rocks, and waterfalls.
The autumn foliage and winter icefalls are famous. In winter, the gorge is covered with snow, creating a beautiful landscape.
How about taking a snowshoe hike and exploring the serene nature?
【Experience Details】
・A local guide will take you to the best highlight spots of the day.
・You can see natural ice falls, known as ”hyobaku" in Japanese. Ice falls are columns or formations of ice that develop from waterfalls or rock faces as the water freezes furing the winter mounths.
・After the snowshoe tour, be sure to enjoy the Ice Fall Festival as well!

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the meeting time. - Clothing and belongings
- Base Layer : Warm thermal innerwear.
Outerwear : Waterproof and windproof jacket and pants.
Socks : Thick socks (layering is also effective).
Accessories : Gloves, beanie/hat, and neck warmer.
