The Sounkyo is a huge comprises a range of gorge created by the Ishikari River carving out the Daisetsuzan, surrounded by about 20 km by 100-meter-high cliffs with rocks, and waterfalls.
The autumn foliage and winter icefalls are famous. In winter, the gorge is covered with snow, creating a beautiful landscape.
How about taking a snowshoe hike and exploring the serene nature?

【Experience Details】
・A local guide will take you to the best highlight spots of the day.
・You can see natural ice falls, known as ”hyobaku" in Japanese. Ice falls are columns or formations of ice that develop from waterfalls or rock faces as the water freezes furing the winter mounths.
・After the snowshoe tour, be sure to enjoy the Ice Fall Festival as well!

Clothing and belongings
Base Layer: Start with a moisture-wicking base layer to keep sweat away from your skin. This layer should be thermal or synthetic.
Insulating Layer: Wear an insulating layer like a fleece or down jacket to retain body heat.
Outer Layer: A waterproof and windproof outer layer is essential to protect you from the elements.
Footwear: Waterproof, insulated boots are crucial for keeping your feet warm and dry.
Gloves/Mittens: Insulated, waterproof gloves or mittens will keep your hands warm and dry.
Hat and Neck Gaiter: A warm hat and neck gaiter or scarf will help protect your head and neck from the cold.
Socks: Wear moisture-wicking, thermal socks. Avoid cotton socks, as they can become damp and cold.
Backpack: Carry a small backpack with essentials like water, snacks.
