Each winter, an outdoor skating rink opens in the station square at the north exit of JR Asahikawa Station.

Built to take advantage of Asahikawa’s cold climate, the rink is lit up after dark, allowing visitors to skate under atmospheric illuminations. Best of all, admission and skate rental are free, making it easy for both visitors and locals to enjoy an authentic winter experience in Asahikawa’s famous "shibare" (the region’s intense, bone‑chilling cold).

Conveniently located, the rink is a perfect stop during your winter trip.
