Kagura Oka Park
Take a deep breath in the city and enjoy four seasons of forests and walking trails—an oasis in Asahikawa
Kaguraoka Park lies on rolling hills about 3 km southeast of central Asahikawa. The park’s attractions include natural stands of elm, Japanese poplar (doro‑no‑ki), and oak, roughly 500 Ezo cherry trees, and the tranquil scenery formed by the Chubetsu River along its northern edge.
Visitors can enjoy cherry‑blossom viewing in spring, camping and cookouts in summer, autumn foliage walks in fall, and cross‑country skiing in winter. The park is home to many wild birds and small mammals, making it a popular spot for nature observation and lifelong learning.
Originally developed during the Taisho era, the park is now divided into three zones—an Urban Greening Botanical Garden, a Nature Ecology Observation Area, and a General Park—providing a relaxed, accessible place for residents to connect with nature.
