Ayako Miura Literature Museum
A literature museum nestled in the woods of Japan's oldest Foreign Tree Species Sample Forest, the setting of the masterpiece "Freezing Point" (Hyoten)
Ayako Miura, born in Asahikawa, left behind numerous works such as "Freezing Point" (Hyoten) and "Shiokari Pass" (Shiokari Toge). This privately established and operated literature museum was founded with the hope that visitors would engage with her literature—which questions the fundamental theme of "how to live"—and find spiritual nourishment by deepening their understanding of her thoughts.
Please immerse yourself in the literary world of Ayako Miura. Take a stroll through the Foreign Tree Species Sample Forest, the setting of "Freezing Point," and relax with a drink or enjoy "forest bathing" on the attached wooden deck terrace. You can also view the exhibits in the main building and her "Dictation Study," which was relocated and restored in the annex.
