It is a yakitori specialty store with Asahikawa 5 and 7 Koji Furari. Founded in Showa 25, the meat is not frozen! It is hand-grilled over charcoal. The words “We will not allow you to pass by” written on the signboard are impressive, and it is a famous restaurant that boasts a secret sauce that has been added since its founding, protected by the young third-generation store manager, Tatsuya Kubo.

The popular menu item, Shinkoyaki, is an unglazed dish of bone-in halves including young chicken wings, and is known as Asahikawa’s soul food that has transcended generations and continues to be loved as a feast for the common people since the end of the war. At “Gineko”, we are particular about raw meat that arrives without freezing, and we purchase raw young chickens that are characterized by their fresh meat quality and clean fat from inside the middle bill. By carefully grilling it over a 30-minute period, the shinkoyaki is slowly grilled over charcoal and has plenty of meat juice and volume.

There is also a wide variety of yakitori, including rare cuts such as neck meat “erimaki” and young chicken gizzard meat called “engawa”. The popular “full course of skewers” (liver, kinkan, wrinkled, chicken giblets, gizzards, pork tongue, and chickpeek) is a highly recommended menu item that can be enjoyed at a lower price than ordering it individually.

You cannot reserve a seat, so we recommend coming early. In the Showa retro atmosphere, please enjoy Asahikawa’s specialties.
